Who says you can’t teach an old sea dog new tricks? Certainly not this 63-year-old landlubber who caught the tattoo bug on the high seas!
Picture this: There I was, aboard the Scarlet Lady, ready for a relaxing cruise. Little did I know I’d disembark with more than just vacation memories – I’d be sporting my very first tattoo, courtesy of Squid Ink, Virgin Voyages‘ onboard tattoo parlor.

Now, I’ve always been more “sensible shoes” than “body art,” but something about the ocean air (and a bit of coaxing from a friend) must have gone to my head. Before I knew it, I was chatting with one of Squid Ink’s experienced artists, designing my very own tattoo. Talk about a souvenir that lasts longer than a suntan!
The best part? It was as painless as getting a temporary tattoo from a cereal box (almost) – only this one wouldn’t wash off in the pool. And let me tell you, these aren’t your average tattoo artists. With years of experience under their belts, these ink masters could probably tattoo a masterpiece on a rolling ship in choppy waters (though I’m glad the seas were calm for mine).

But wait, there’s more! Squid Ink uses vegan ink that’s globally recognized to exceed safety standards. No animal by-products or testing involved – it’s as guilt-free as the all-you-can-eat buffet (well, almost).
Now, I’m not saying Virgin Voyages has some sort of tattoo magic going on, but they’ve even featured celebrity tattoo artists onboard. So, who knows? Your next cruise selfie might include you and a famous ink slinger!
One tattoo led to another, and before I knew it, I was back on board the following year for round two. And guess what? I’m already planning my third! It seems I’ve traded in my bingo dauber for tattoo needles.

So, if you’re looking for a vacation that really leaves a mark, set sail with Virgin Voyages. Who knows? You might just discover your inner tattoo enthusiast. Just remember – what happens on the Virgin Voyages stays on the Virgin Voyages… permanently etched on your skin!
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to start planning my next design. I’m thinking something nautical – maybe a Kraken wrestling a cruise ship? Too much?
